Elantra Bumper Fascia Removal

As part of his mod to install Front Fog Lights on his Elantra, ElantraClub member wills03 removed his Front Bumper Fascia. This made the job of installing the Fog Lights much easier because the 2004-06 GLS sedan bumper has no openings around the Fog Lights. On a 2004-06 GLS hatchback, there are openings around the Fog Lights which makes it possible to see and reach from the front into the area where the Fog Lights are being mounted. But on the sedan, the only access to this area is from below which makes installation of the Fog Lights difficult, if not impossible, unless the fascia is removed. It only took about 30 min to get it all apart.

Before starting:

First, take off the Radiator Guard, the black trim piece above the radiator. To remove the fasteners, partially unscrew the center portion using a phillips head screwdriver, then pull the fastener out (both parts). There are ten fasteners in the locations shown:

Remove the 5 screws on the back of the Grill:

With the Grill off, the 5 screw locations are visible:

Remove the two bolts that hold the Bumper Fascia to the Radiator Support:

There are two fasteners located at the bottom of the Bumper Fascia in front of the wheel on both sides that were removed:

There are two screws located in the wheel well:

There are two screws at the base of the grill area:

Sorry for the blurry picture but, these screws are located on the bottom of the bumper. There are a total of 6 on the bottom of the bumper:

This view is looking at the back side of the marker light from under the bumper. Disconnect the side marker lights:

Take out the headlight assemblies (not that hard to do). For those of you who have not done this, there are two bolts on the top and one on the bottom (below the high beam lamp) for the passenger side. On the driver side, remove the heat shield before taking off the headlamp. The head shield is held in by three plastic fasteners near the headlamp, a one bolt into the air cleaner box. The snorkel for the stock air cleaner comes up under the heat shield; if it's in the way it can just be pulled off. Once those are removed, the driver side headlamp comes out the same as the passenger side.

Headlight assembly removed.

There are two more plastic screws located under the headlight assembly. After taking those two out with a little bit of shimming around the bumper should come off.
